CUSTOM SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT FOR SMEs

When standard software leaves a gap.We build the tool that fits.

A dashboard instead of scattered spreadsheets. An application for a recurring task. A connection between two systems. As a personal boutique consultancy for Swiss SMEs, we develop focused solutions for work that currently takes too much manual effort.

Build what your team is missing

We start with your workflow. If an existing application or automation can solve the problem, we consider it. Custom development should serve a clear purpose.

Internal tools & web apps

Capture information, manage tasks or compile results in an application tailored to your workflow.

Dashboards & reporting

Bring relevant data together in understandable views and summaries, reducing repetitive manual preparation.

Integrations & AI features

Connect applications or structure and summarise text. Plan access permissions, data quality and human review alongside the features.

From your task to a useful application

  1. 01

    Bring data together

Import information from the agreed sources.

  2. 02

    See what matters

Present relevant cases and figures clearly.

  3. 03

    Take action

Review results and handle the next steps.

From idea to implementation

How we approach your project

  1. 01

    Understand the problem

Review your workflow, users and existing systems.

  2. 02

    Define the scope

Agree on core features, integrations, acceptance criteria and operating costs.

  3. 03

    Develop in steps

Build a usable first version and refine it with your feedback.

  4. 04

    Introduce & hand over

Check the solution, introduce your team and agree on operational responsibilities.

Start focused. Agree on costs first.

Start focused. Agree on costs first.

You receive a proposal for the agreed initial scope. Interfaces, data quality and user roles determine the effort. Operations, licences and optional maintenance are listed separately. We agree on additional features before implementing them.

From idea to implementation

The first version solves one clear task.

Who will use the tool? What information do they need? What must work at the end? Together we answer these questions and define the core features. A usable version lets you assess early whether the solution fits your daily work.

What you receive

  • Agreed requirements and a clearly bounded initial scope
  • A usable solution for the agreed workflow
  • Checks for core functions, error handling and access rights
  • Documentation and handover, with hosting and maintenance agreed separately
Research & development guidance

What matters when building custom software

DORA researches successful software development; NIST describes secure development practices. We draw three recommendations for your project from these sources. They do not predict the outcome for an individual SME.

Value2024

Understand how people actually work

The 2024 DORA report describes a relationship between a strong focus on users and higher product quality. Our recommendation: Before development, define who will use the application, which task it should improve and how you will recognise progress – such as fewer manual transfers or more complete records.

Steps

Test early whether the solution fits daily work

DORA describes small, independently testable changes as a foundation for fast feedback and effective software delivery. Our recommendation: Start with one complete, clearly scoped workflow – for example, from importing a file to reviewing a report. Let the future users try this version before adding more features.

Security2022

Plan security and maintenance from the start

The NIST SSDF guidance recommends integrating security practices throughout development and addressing the root causes of vulnerabilities. Our recommendation: Clarify permissions, sensitive data and security checks at the start of the project. Also agree who will apply updates and respond to reported vulnerabilities after handover.

Frequently asked questions

01Do you take on small programming projects?

Yes. Focused tools and extensions are a good fit, provided there is a clearly described problem.

02Does the software have to use AI?

No. AI is useful for some tasks; conventional software often suits fixed rules, calculations and data transfers better.

03Do you also develop applications with AI?

Yes. We combine conventional software with AI features, for example for summaries or processing text. Before implementation, we clarify which results need review and which data may be processed.

04Can you connect existing applications?

That depends on available APIs, licences and permissions. We check these prerequisites before committing to an integration.

05What happens after handover?

Hosting, access, documentation, usage rights and maintenance are defined in the proposal. Ongoing support can be agreed separately.
